UK-based Miglia Technology on Thursday announced the release of MovieGate for EvolutionTV, a plug-in for Miglia’s Mac TV tuner. It’s a free download from the Miglia Web site.
The new plug-in lets you create Video DVDs from TV footage you’ve recorded using EvolutionTV without needing additional software. MovieGate also can assign chapters to the Video DVDs. It’s based on MovieGate, a free DVD mastering utility created by Macetvideo.com.
EvolutionTV lets you watch and record TV on your Mac. It supports MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and DivX-based hardware compression, and comes with software that lets you access online TV guides and schedule recordings. System requirements call for a G4/800MHz or faster, 256MB RAM, Mac OS X v10.3 or later and USB 2.0. EvolutionTV costs US$279.
Miglia has also made the software development kit (SDK) for EvolutionTV’s post-processing plug-ins available to third party developers; the company encourages developers to create their own plug-ins to support the technology — developers can e-mail the company for more details.
