Epson America Inc. on Tuesday introduced its PictureMate Express Edition, a US$149 compact photo printer that features faster printing than the original PictureMate.
The PictureMate Express Edition is designed to print out 4 x 6 inch photos, and does so in as little as 80 seconds, 36 percent faster than its predecessor, according to Epson.
The PictureMate is Mac and PC-compatible. It outputs using a six-color pigment ink technology onto paper that feels like a lab print and is is water and smudge-resistant. Epson claims that prints produced using a PictureMate are two to four times more resistant to fading than film-processed photos.
The PictureMate Express Edition is being offered alongside the original PictureMate, now priced at $129 and the $199 PictureMate Deluxe Viewer Edition, which features a 2.4-inch LCD panel.
Epson’s Web site had not been updated with details about the new printer as MacCentral posted this article.
