Epson America Inc. on Tuesday introduced two new six-color inkjet photo printrs — the Stylus Photo R220 and Stylus Photo R340. Both are available now, for US$99 and $199 respectively.
Both printers feature better color saturation than their predecessors, producing more vibrant reds and yellows, as well as automatic image enhancement to adjust photos that are too dark when the subject is backlit. And both printers can print onto inkjet-printable CDs and DVDs, printing from the center to the edge with no visible blank space — this produces a cleaner, more professional look, according to Epson.
The Stylus Photo R220 produces 5760 x 1440 optimized dot per inch (DPI) output, and prints borderless in 4 x 6, 5 x 7, 8 x 10 and 8.5 x 11-inch sizes. It uses individual ink cartridges, and connects to a Mac or PC using front and back-positioned USB ports.
The Stylus Photo R340 can work without a Mac or PC attached; it features a 2.4-inch LCD preview monitor and can print from various memory cards, as well direct from digital cameras that support PictBridge and USB DirectPrint technology.
You can also save files to external CD-R and DVD-R or Zip drives using the front-access USB host port, all without having a computer in the way. The R340 works supports USB 2.0.
