Digital Lifestyle Outfitters (DLO) on Thursday introduced a redesigned TransPod. The TransPod is their car charger and FM radio transmitter for Apple’s iPod. It costs US$99.99.
The redesigned TransPod has a smaller design and easier to access controls — front-based tuning controls adjust the FM radio frequency, while side-mounted buttons control the TransPod’s backlight and radio frequency presets. It also uses new power control circuitry that turns the TransPod on when an iPod is docked and off when the TransPod is not in use.
There’s now an audio input to transmit the audio of other devices — another MP3 player, for example, a portable DVD player or a Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP). There’s an auxiliary output that enables you to connect to your vehicle stereo system’s auxiliary input port, if so equipped, or a cassette adapter.
The TransPod includes inserts to fit both the iPod mini and the new iPod nano, also also comes with “fit pads” to help tailor the fit for various third and fourth-generation iPod models of varying depth.
DLO has also improved the charger arm apparatus and screws for easy adjustment.
