Griffin Technology Inc. on Wednesday announced its newly revamped iTrip as compatible with the new fifth-generation iPods recently introduced by Apple. The iTrip will be available in late October for US$49.99.
The iTrip is Griffin’s FM transmitter for iPods. The newly redesigned iTrip connects to the full-sized dock connector found on all third, fourth and fifth generation iPods, iPod minis and iPod nanos (the original used the headphone jack and remote interface found on older iPods).
It features a backlit LCD screen and a switch that lets you select broadcast frequency. You can also set the iTrip into LX or DX broadcast modes, adjusting for conditions to get the clearest signal possible. You can also set the iTrip for domestic and international tuning modes.
The iTrip measures 2.41 x 0.9 x 0.61 inches and weighs 0.6 ounces. It’s powered through the iPod connection, and features a “mini USB port” that allows for charging while in use.
