DragThing developer TLA Systems Ltd. on Thursday announced the release of PCalc 3, the latest major release of their scientific calculator for Mac OS X.
PCalc 3 supports hexadecimal, octal and binary calculations, features RPN support, programmability and extensive unit conversions.
The new release of PCalc has been rewritten for Mac OS X v10.4 “Tiger” (it requires Mac OS X v10.4.2 or later), and includes a Dashboard widget. The maths engine is more accurate, and the new release features a new unit conversion mechanism.
Also new to this release are editable keyboard shortcuts for all actions, new calculator interface styles, support for adding third-party styles, functions and unit conversions, enhanced RPN mode, multiple undo and redo and more.
What’s more, PCalc 3 features a “universal binary” that can be installed on Macs equipped with PowerPC processors and the Intel-based Macs. Although Apple has not yet released Intel-based Macs, such systems are in the hands of authorized Mac developers who have requested a Developer Transition Kit from Apple.
A free upgrade for registered users of PCalc 2, PCalc 3 costs US$19 for a single-user license.
