Cyrusoft International Inc./ISAMET, developer of the Macintosh e-mail client software Mulberry, has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection.
Mulberry is an e-mail client application that appeared for “Classic” Mac OS and other operating systems, including Mac OS X, Windows, Solaris and Linux. It was lauded by reviewers for its power and versatility but criticized for its complex interface.
In a statement posted to the ISAMET Web site, developer Cyrus Daboo said that this announcement “pretty much means the end of Mulberry,” and that his “biggest disappointment is for the effect this will have on our customers.”
“The website and mailing lists will likely continue to operate for a while before the plug is pulled, so you should be able to continue to discuss this event there, however, whilst bankruptcy proceedings are ongoing, I’m afraid I won’t be able to comment further,” said Daboo.
