Sony has released its v2.50 System Update for the PSP sold in North America. The update is available for download through the PSP’s Network Update feature and can also be downloaded from Sony’s Web site and installed using a Mac or PC.
Changes to this release include the addition of LocationFree Player. which lets you watch TV or videos on your PSP using Sony’s LocationFree Base Station. LocationFree devices let you stream video entertainment from your home entertainment system to a computer.
Copyright-protected video can now be played back from Memory Stick Duo media, as well.
The new release also adds “Auto Select” and “Unicode UTF-8” as encoding options for the built-in Web browser. Setting for text size and display mode in the browser can now be saved. You can also save an input history of online forms.
