Lexar Media Inc. on Tuesday announced its new Professional CompactFlash Reader and new high-speed multi-card readers, for mobile photographers.
The new Professional CompactFlash Reader is clad in black and features a LED indicator that shows you when the data transfer is complete. The LED also serves as an eject button, and can be used one-handed for quick and easy card ejection. It connect using either FireWire or USB 2.0. Pricing was not available.
LaCie’s new 32-bit Card Bus Reader supports all CompactFlash Type I and Type II cards, and makes it possible to import the contents of a CompactFlash card using the expansion interface found on 15-inch and 17-inch PowerBooks. It works with Macs and PCs. It costs US$49.99.
The $34.99 Multi-Card Reader works with 12 different memory formats, including CompactFlash Type I and Type II, Smart Media, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, MultiMediaCard (MMC), Secure Digital (SD), Mini Secure Digital (miniSD), xD-Picture Card, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick Duo Pro, reduced-size MMC and Micro Drives.
The Single Slot Portable Card Reader is a card reader/writer and USB flash drive all in one. You insert a supported flash media card and can expand the device’s memory. It works without drivers and connects to a Mac or PC’s USB port. It costs US$19.99.
