AJA Video has announced the KONA LHE, a 10-bit uncompressed video capture card intended for video pros using Apple’s new PCI Express-based Power Mac G5. It’ll be available on October 31, 2005 for US$1,790.
The Kona LHe is functionally identical to the PCI version that shipped a month ago. The card lets video pros capture video and work in Standard Definition (SD) or High Definition (HD) resolutions. It works with Final Cut Pro 5, Motion, After Effects, Combustion and other QuickTime-based software.
The Kona LHe provides DVCProHD, HDV and Dynamic RT Extreme-based hardware acceleration, and features 12-bit video A/D and D/a converters, SDI or HD-SDI input and two independent SDI/HD-SDI outputs, 10-bit hardware HD to SD down-conversion, two channel AES and 8-channel embedded audio, two-channel balanced XLR analog audio, HD/SD genlock, RS-422 machine control and other features.
