Daystar Technology has announced that it is offering My InternetPC, an online service that provides Mac users with access to a full Windows XP desktop environment over the Internet, without having to run emulation software. It’s a subscription-based service that starts at US$24.95 per month.
Using a combination of X11, Java and Microsoft Server software, Daystar claims My InternetPC is faster than running an emulator like Virtual PC. My InternetPC is run “not much different than the past mainframe scenarios,” according to a statement from the company.
Developed by True North Technology, your connection to My InternetPC is simply an “interactive visual connection,” requiring only simple screen refreshes — the actual computer system you’re connected to, its storage capacity and software are located on the Internet.
The base $24.95 per month service provides you with access to Windows XP, Internet Explorer and 5GB of storage space. For $44.95, the Office service also provides Microsoft Office Standard access.
