BenQ on Monday introduced the FP202W LCD display. The 20-inch wide monitor works with Macs and PCs and features 1680 x 1050 pixel resolution. It’ll be available in the fourth calendar quarter of 2005, with a suggested retail price of US$649 — BenQ estimates the street price to be around $599.
The display features an 8 millisecond response time — the first 20-inch monitor with such a fast response time, according to the company. The FP202W also touts a 600:1 contrast ratio and typical brightness of 300cd/m2. It also has both D-Sub (analog) and DVI-D interfaces, so it will work with Macs that have VGA interfaces, as well as new models equipped with Digital Visual Interface (DVI) connectors. The FP202W is compatible with VESA wall mounts, and measures 15.61 x 18.81 x 6.69 inches and weighs about 5.7 pounds.
The speedy response time makes the monitor well suited for multimedia playback like movies, as well as for games, according to BenQ. The display also features “Senseye” technology, which optimizes color, clarity, motion and contrast for more vivid imagery.
