Destineer division MacSoft has announced plans to publish Zoo Tycoon 2 for the Macintosh later this month. A strategy game in which you build and operate your own zoo, Zoo Tycoon will cost US$39.99.
Zoo Tycoon 2 lets you get up close with your zoo exhibits, viewing the giraffes, tigers, crocodiles, elephants and more than 25 other animals in your zoo from a first-person perspective. You can build your zoo up using new tools and options, “photo mode” options, easier terrain altering, a new zoom mode and new 3D graphics.
The game includes tutorials to help users get started, and a new “Zoo Guest” mode lets you walk around the zoo from your guests’ points of view. Zookeeper lets you interact with animals directly. The photo mode lets you take pictures of your favorite exhibits. And the “Zoopedia” features facts about the animals in your menagerie.
Blue Fang Games originally developed Zoo Tycoon 2 for the PC, which was published by Microsoft Game Studios. The game’s predecessor, the original Zoo Tycoon, was published for the Mac by Aspyr Media Inc.
