Gemini Sound Products has introduced the iKey, a portable USB-based recorder that lets users record live audio and convert it to MP3 files directly onto an an Apple iPod or any other “driverless” USB storage device that’s recognized as a mass storage device, without having to use a computer first. The iKey costs US$229.99.
Featuring gold-plated RCA inputs, the iKey touts a Record and Select button. You can select format and bit rate (it works in both uncompressed WAV and in MP3 format, at bit rates up to 256Kbps). An LED indicator shows you how much storage space is left on the target drive.
The iKey can work on 4AA batteries. It also features a level clip indicator, volume control and reset button.
