Electronic Arts (EA) announced Friday plans to team up with Nettwerk Music Group on EA Recordings, a new digital music distribution label that will bring EA’s catalog of music to digital distributors including Apple’s iTunes Music Store and other services, including Yahoo Music, Rhapsody and others.
EA Recordings include compositions created for EA’s popular video games, such as Command & Conquer Generals, Medal of Honor, The Sims 2 and others. Composers whose works are featured include Trevor Jones, Mark Mothersbaugh and more; remixes have custom-cut by DJs like Paul Oakenfold and others.
EA said it plans to regularly update its catalog with new releases and back-catalog entries as well.
EA has already experimented with online content distributed via iTunes. The company has posted podcasts featuring the developers of The Sims 2 and selections from some of its hit video games.
