Boston, Mass.-based ResearchWare Inc. on Tuesday introduced HyperTranscribe 1.0, a new software package for Mac OS X and Windows users that helps transcribe audio and video files. HyperTranscribe is available as a free demo version and costs US$99 for the single-user version.
QuickTime-based, HyperTranscribe opens and plays back more than two dozen audio and video formats. You can play, pause and loop media so you don’t miss anything while you’re transcribing what’s happening, and the software also lets you customize keyboard shortcuts to help simplify your typing. Once you’re done transcribing you can export the finished file to plain text and RTF formats.
HyperTranscribe requires Mac OS X v10.2 or later and QuickTime 6.0 or later.
