Popular electronics retailer RadioShack Corp. is no stranger to the Apple iPod — the company has previously distributed HP’s iPods and already carries a multitude of iPod accessories. But with the dissolution of Apple and HP’s iPod partnership, the Fort Worth, Texas-based company is going its own way: On Tuesday RadioShack announced that it has become an authorized Apple reseller and is offering the full range of iPod models itself.
The deal permits RadioShack to sell all iPod models from the tiny shuffle all the way to Apple’s 60GB color iPod model at RadioShack stores across the United States. RadioShack also said it plans to offer customers dozens of iPod accessories, including external speakers, docking stations, skins, travel cases, cables and power solutions.
RadioShack’s 5,000 company-owned stores and a select number of dealer-owned stores will get the iPods. Availability of specific models and accessories will vary by store; iPod products and accessories will be featured in a branded iPod section within each store.
