Iomega Corp. on Thursday introduced new Micro Mini Hard Drive models in 4GB and 8GB capacities. Mac and Windows compatible, the new drives are available now for US$129.95 and $169.95 respectively.
The Micro Mini Hard Drives feature USB 2.0 interfaces and internal hard drive mechanisms that operate at 4200RPM. They have smaller footprints than a credit card, according to Iomega, measuring 2.75 x 2.01 x 0.56 inches and weight 1.75 ounces. The integrated USB connector folds into the case, so you don’t have to bother with cables.
The drives are host-powered, and feature a blue LED that signifies drive status and power. “Drop shock” technology helps protect the drive from being damaged if it’s knocked around.
The drive also ships with software for Mac OS X and Windows users, including Iomega Automatic Backup and Musicmatch music jukebox software.
Iomega’s Web site had not been updated with information about the new drive capacities as MacCentral posted this article.
