Talking Panda LLC has announced iRocker, designed to work as a companion for guitarists beginning or pro who have an Apple iPod. It costs US$19.95.
iRocker includes Guitar Tuner, which provides you with recordings a perfectly tuned guitar. Helpful for beginners who don’t want to carry around a pitch pipe or tuner, it’s also useful to professionals, with different tuning methods like Standard, Drop D, Half-Step Down and more.
A “Virtual Chordbook” displays chord diagrams on the iPod screen, showing you the correct fingering for each chord. What’s’s more, you can hear the chords play through your earbuds, so you can get a sense of what they should soundlike. Over 30 essential major and minor chords are diagrammed.
iRocker also features its own Metronome, ticking off at 10 different speeds to help you keep your timing.
And Riffs lets you play along with five different chord progressions.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2 or later and an iPod with a dock connector, including the iPod nano, iPod mini and Click Wheel iPod, 50MB of free space and iTunes 4.7 or later.
It’s not compatible with any iPod that purchased before May 2003, according to Talking Panda. iRocker is not compatible with the iPod shuffle.
