Griffin Technology Inc. on Monday announced that its new iTrip is now shipping. The iTrip is an FM transmitter for the iPod, and the new model works with new fifth generation iPods and iPod nanos. The iTrip costs US$49.99.
The iTrip features a backlit LCD screen that shows you what FM channel it’s tuned to. A switch on the side selects the broadcast frequency. You can select LX or DX broadacasting modes — DX mode can help get a good signal in regions with a lot of radio stations. The iTrip can also be set for U.S. or International tuning modes.
The iTrip requires no batteries — it draws its power directly from the iPod. It connects to the iPod’s dock connector. The iTrip is compatible with third, fourth and fifth-generation iPods, iPod photos, iPod U2 Special Edition, iPod nano and iPod mini.
