LaCie on Tuesday introduced its 100 Series LCD panels and SAFE Mobile Hard Drive, with encryption. Available now for pre-order, the new products are expected to ship to retailers in December.
The LaCie 100 Series displays come in 19 and 20 inch sizes. Aimed at digital professionals working in editing, design and layout, the new displays feature 4:3 aspect ratios, 170 degree viewing angles, tilt, swivel and height adjustments and Multi-domain Vertical Alignment (MVA) LCD technology. Both displays feature VGA and DVI interfaces.
The LaCie 119 features a native resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels, 250cd/m2 brightness and a 1000:1 contrast ratio; the LaCie 120 features 1600 x 1200 resolution, 250cd/m2 brightness and a 700:1 contrast ratio. They cost US$429 and $699 respectively.
The LaCie SAFE Mobile Hard Drive features DES (56-bit) or triple-DES (128-bit) encryption and biometric access technology — it uses fingerprint recognition to unlock. Up to five different users can be registered with customized access privileges; it’s bus-powered, and connects to a Mac or PC using USB 2.0. LaCie is making the drive available in 4200RPM (120GB) or 5400RPM (40/80GB) versions with 8MB cache. The 40GB, 80GB and 120GB models cost $219.99, $269.99 and $399.99 respectively.
