is a new service that combines the already established industry of Internet video dating with new portable video systems like Apple’s latest iPod. Subscribers can download potential matches to their device and take them with them on the road. The service, which officially launched Wednesday, is free to register and use.
Users who access the PodDater.com Web site can search profiles to find potential matches who interest them. Once matches are found, you can click on the Play link to watch the video in your browser, or download the video to your iPod. The next time you connect your iPod and sync it, the video is copied to your iPod.
PodDater.com co-founder David Hunegnaw said in a statement that several months ago, he and partner Roopan Dey saw the opportunity to bring Internet dating to portable video devices. “With the introduction of the iPod with video, we naturally jumped on the opportunity to leverage the technology and take dating on-the-go to a whole new extreme,” said Hunegnaw.
