LaCie has introduced its Brick Desktop and Mobile Editions — a new line of external hard disk drives for Macs and PCs that resemble the popular LEGO children’s building block toys. The new drives range in price from US$119.99 to $329.99 depending on capacity and form factor.
The new Brick design was created by Ora-Ïto, who has previously worked with Heineken, Adidas, L’Oreal and others. The new drives come in white, red and blue and in capacities from 40GB to 500GB. Just like real LEGO blocks, the LaCie Brick is stackable, too.
The LaCie Brick Desktop drives connect to a Mac or PC using USB 2.0 LaCie’s Mobile versions come in USB 2.0 and FireWire combo versions or USB 2.0 only. All drives include backup software that compatible with Mac OS and Windows.
The Desktop Editions will ship by the end of December, according to LaCie. The Mobile Editions are coming in January.
