Sony has updated the software for its PlayStation Portable (PSP) to version 2.60. The new software update is available for download for North American users of the PSP by using the built-in Network Update feature, or by downloading and installing the software through Sony’s Web site.
New to this release is support for Really Simple Syndication (RSS) newsfeeds. Also new to this release is support for Windows Media Audio (WMA) format — WMA files stored on Memory Stick Duo media can now be played by the PSP’s music player software. WMA9 Professional, Lossless and DRM-protected WMA files are not supported, however.
Other changes include a volume adjustment option in the LocationFree Player control panel and support for Simplified and Traditional Chinese encoding when viewing Web sites.
