Intelliscanner on Wednesday announced Kitchen Companion 100, the company’s barcode scanning software that promises to turn your Mac into an intelligent kitchen companion to help out with the shopping.
Scan a product’s barcode after using it, and Kitchen Companion 100 connects to an online database of over 300,000 grocery items to look up details on the product’s name, brand, category, shopping section and size. Users can then print out a categorized shopping list, or send the list to an iPod, PDA or mobile phone.
According to Intelliscanner, Kitchen Companion also offers advanced quantity management, consumption history, physical location tracking, custom searching, “dynamic” shopping lists and nutrition information from the USDA.
The software comes with a barcode scanner. Mac users can choose between a Bluetooth wireless interface ($279.00) or wired USB scanner ($179).
