Yahoo! on Monday announced the release of its Widget Engine 3.0 — the product formerly known as Konfabulator. A free download, Yahoo! Widget Engine works on both Mac OS X and Windows.
Yahoo! Widgets are lightweight applications that can perform any task envisioned by their programmer, from telling you the weather to giving you directions.
New to this release are nine new widgets including the Yahoo! Maps Widget, Picture Frame, Yahoo! Search Widget, Yahoo! Mail Widget, Yahoo! Notepad Widget, and more than 2,000 widgets created by third-party developers.
This is also the first version to include contributions from the Yahoo! Developer Network.
Yahoo! Widget Engine 3.0 measures 8.4MB and requires Mac OS X v10.3 or later.
