4D on Wednesday announced the release of 4th Dimension 2004.3, its eponymous database software. The new release now features enhanced data recovery capabilities, and is a free update for 4D 2004 users.
4D 2004 is an application and Web development tool that enables developers to create database applications. The new release, 2004.3, features an integrated mirror system that provides backup, data redundancy and data recovery capabilities. A second computer can be used to mirror the data on the “operational” database, which is stored on the main computer. That mirrored database is periodically updated to make sure that it keeps pace with the original.
Also new to this release is advanced Debug Log Recording, which keeps developers in the loop with detailed information on execution time and memory usage, form events, methods and more.
Pricing starts at $349 for a new license. System requirements call for a G3 or better, Mac OS X v10.2.8 or later, 800 x 600 resolution and 256MB RAM.
