Spiderweb Software has announced the release of Avernum 4, the first all-new game in its fantasy role playing game series to be released in years. Avernum 4 debuts on the Mac for $25; a Windows version is coming in 2006.
Avernum is an underground nation populated by people and monsters that live in miles of tunnels, pits and gigantic caverns. Everything has gone wrong — savage beasts have returned to the land, and normally peaceful citizens have been afflicted by an overwhelming paranoia. It’s up to you and your group to find the source of this affliction and put an end to it.
The Avernum series, up to now, has featured a story line retold from Spiderweb’s older Exile series. This is the first new Avernum game to be produced by Spiderweb.
A classic fantasy RPG for the Macintosh, Avernum 4 features many characters, hundreds of side quests, traps, tricks and treasure. It also has very modest system requirements, asking only for Mac OS 8.1 or later (it runs natively in Mac OS X), 100MB RAM, 50MB hard drive space and 1024 x 768 resolution with 16-bit color. A demo version is available for download.
