Alias on Friday announced new DVD-based Beginners’ Guides for its Maya and MotionBuilder 3D software. The guides come bundled with the “Personal Learning Editions” of each software package, and cost $19.99 and $24.99 for the MotionBuilder and Maya versions, respectively.
The DVDs include step-by-step tutorials and demonstrations. The Maya 7 Beginner’s Guide Bundle offers an introduction to the software interface, and the ability to learn basic keyframe animation and rigging, modeling workflows, shading and texturing techniques, and to learn about rigid and soft body dynamics, particle effects and more.
The MotionBuilder Beginner’s Guide provides character animators with an overview of MotionBuilder’s components and functions, including keyframe animation, control rigs, pose-to-pose character animation, animation re-use, shaders and material application and more.
System requirements for the MotionBuilder Beginner’s Guide call for Mac OS X v10.3 or later, G4 or better, 256MB RAM, OpenGL graphics with at least 32MB VRAM and 600MB hard disk space. System requirements for the Maya Beginners’ Guide calls for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later, G4 or better, 512MB RAM, OpenGL graphics, three-button mouse and 450MB hard disk space.
