Trans Intl. on Monday announced a new version of its SwiftData 200R kit that enables users of dual-core and quad-core Power Mac G5 systems to install up to two terabytes (TB) of internal storage “without modifying, replacing or sacrificing” what’s already inside.
The SwiftData 200R is a $79 chassis that enables you to install up to three more internal hard disk drives on new Power Mac G5 systems. Trans Intl. optionally bundles the RocketRAID 2320 Serial ATA (SATA) card as well — that kit cost $354.
The RAID card provides control over the additional drives, which can be configured in RAID Level 0, 1, 5 or 10 configurations — useful when you want to add additional high-speed and redundant storage for editing digital video and audio and other tasks that require high-performance storage capabilities.
The kit is made of aluminum and ships with a 15-pin SATA power cable and SATA II-compliant data cables, installation movie on CD and manual.
Trans also offers SATA hard disk drives to populate the SwiftData 200R, at prices starting at $95 for a 160GB Hitachi mechanism.
