iDevGames and Freeverse Software have sponsored the Original Mac Games (OMG) Cup 2005, a contest to stimulate the development of new Mac OS X games “with a focus on gameplay.” The companies have announced the finalists in this year’s contest.
Among the finalists are Escort Wing from William Hogben and Stephen Johnson; Nball by Mateo Guarnieri; MacBornes by Alexandre Colucci; Tracktor Beam by Will Thimbleby; Pawns by Matt Diamond; and Pakimono by Joachim Ante, Aras Pranckevicius and Raimund Schumach.
The six finalists competed in a field of 36 entries from developers around the world. The first round of voting was a public contest, in which the public was invited to download and play the games them score them.
The finalists will now proceed to the second voting phase, an industry nominating committee. The winners will be announced at Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco on January 12, 2006.
