After seven years, Newton Museum curator John Venzon is “closing the doors” of his virtual museum dedicated to Apple’s long lamented PDA project. What’s more, he’s put up the collection — purported to be one of every Newton model produced — up for auction on eBay.
Long before PDAs and smartphones became commonplace accessories among businesspeople, soccer moms and anyone else looking to replace a day planner or personal organizer, Apple pioneered the market with its Newton project, which spawned a variety of MessagePad models and the eMate 300, a version specifically designed for the educational market.
In addition to the Newton MessagePad line and an eMate 300, Venzon’s auction includes a variety of accessories, including cases, memory cards, power adapters, fax modems, styli and a vast collection of software.
The auction closes on Monday, December 26, 2005 at 5:00 PM Pacific Time.
