Online retailer Amazon.com offered up the results of the 2005 holiday shopping season with the news that three different Apple iPod models owned the three top spots in electronic sales. The iPod nano, video iPod and iPod shuffle all took top honors.
Amazon.com reports that more than 108 million items were ordered worldwide during its 11th holiday season. A single-day record was set on December 12, 2005 — 3.6 million items ordered, or 41 items per second.
“iPods ruled the holiday season in Electronics, owning the top three spots,” reported Amazon.com in a press release announcing the results. Amazon points to a mysterious “3GB” iPod nano in black (iPod nanos only come in 2GB and 4GB capacities), the black 30GB iPod and the 512MB iPod shuffle as the top sellers in the Electronics category.
