Logitech on Wednesday introduced the Cordless Desktop S 530 Laser for Mac, a cordless keyboard and mouse specifically designed for Mac users. Coming in February, the new set will cost $99.99. A European version is also planned for release in March.
Designed in soft white with silver accents, the keyboard measures less than 3/4 inches high. A large built-in palm rest is included. The keyboard maps all standard Mac keys along with two narrow panels on either side that include 15 additional buttons to control music and playlists in iTunes, launch iPhoto, e-mail applications, scroll through documents and the Internet.
Logitech’s Control Center software lets users customize those keys, as well.
The right-handed mouse features five customizable buttons and a “tilt wheel” scroll wheel that lets users scroll large documents up and down and side to side.
A mini USB receiver plugs into an available port on the Macintosh. The keyboard and mouse are battery-powered; Logitech estimates the battery life of each to be about six months. Both devices feature battery-level indicators that flash when the device is within about 10 days of the end of its battery life. The mouse also has an on/off switch to further conserve battery power.
Logitech’s Web site did not have a product page for the Cordless Desktop S 530 Laser for Mac as Macworld posted this article.
