In addition to the release of a
consumer-level multifunction printer
at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Canon on Wednesday introduced four new camcorders. Designed for the beginner, the company unveiled the
models of camcorders.
All four camcorder models include Canon’s Widescreen HR (high resolution) feature that allows users to enjoy a full-screen image on their widescreen TV. Each model also uses a 2.7-inch Widescreen display panel.
The ZR camcorders feature 25x Optical Zooms, (800x Digital Zoom featured in the ZR500 and ZR600 models, and 1000x Digital Zoom featured in the ZR700). To prevent jerky zooms, the new ZR models also include Smooth Zoom Control that lets the user pick one of three fixed zoom speeds for “professional-style zooming,” according to Canon.
The ZRs also include the Level Shot Control feature that overlays a horizontal marker and center indicator on the viewscreen, helping users to avoid shooting crooked video.
The ZR models can capture digital photos to an SD memory card and allows the user to add image effects to photos.
The ZRs are offered in three cool colors — the ZR500, Blue Mist; the ZR 600, Silver Frost; and the ZR700, Grey Smoke.
The Canon ZR500 ($299), ZR600 ($349) and ZR700 ($399) will be available at the end of January 2006, while the Elura 100 ($399) will be available at the end of February.
