PhotoVu on Thursday announced its new
digital picture frame, which displays digital photos and other content from Macs and PCs, while hanging on a wall like a conventional picture frame. The PV1955 costs $1,119.
The PV1955 sports a 19-inch LCD display that features 1280 x 960 pixel resolution in a 4:3 aspect ratio. Brightness is 300 cd/m2 and contrast ratio is 800:1. The display features 160 x 1600 degree viewing angles, and can be mounted either in portrait or landscape orientation.
It supports Mac, Windows, Linux and Unix operating systems, and can connect to digital image cataloging software including iPhoto, over a wireless network. It supports 802.11b WiFi and Ethernet, and will be upgradable to 802.11g using a new USB wireless device, according to PhotoVu. The PV1955 features built-in USB storage to connect a keychain drive containing photos, and can also accept an optional 80GB removable hard disk drive.
The new, higher-resolution display adds support for up to 16.7 megapixel cameras, USB 2.0, advanced screen transitions, commercial applications and Internet services.
