If you have $500 burning in your pocket and a desire to hear your iPod audio in pristine condition, Shure Inc. has introduced its E500 Sound Isolating Earphones. The new earphones feature a triple driver design and “Push-to-Hear” control.
Shure likens the E500’s to HDTV for your ears. The devices feature three miniature speakers — two woofers and a tweeter — inside each ear. The design suppresses sound from outside world, so Shure has developed a “Push-to-Hear” accessory that activates an external microphone while muting the music.
Shure says its sound isolating design block 30 – 37 decibels (dB) of outside noise. The earphones use a soft, flexible sleeve that contours to the inside of your ear to provide good fit and comfort. Eight pairs of sleeves are included so you can customize your fit.
The E500 is shipping in May.
Shure’s Web site had not been updated with information about the new earphones as Playlist posted this article.
