Terra Soft Solutions has announced the release of
Yellow Dog Linux
4.1. Yellow Dog Linux is designed to work on PowerPC systems, including many Macs. Available now for YDL Enhanced users, Yellow Dog Linux 4.1 is expected to ship by the end of January. A “Box Set” will be available starting at $59.95.
New to this release is support for backlit keys, PCMCIA cell phone and modems and Atheros WiFi cards. Users can now configure dual head systems via the user interface and can install direct to and boot from FireWire drives. USB devices now auto-mount using KDE and GNOME.
Sound support has been improved. Yellow Dog Linux 4.1 also supports the latest Apple PowerBooks, and has implemented beta support for Apple Power Mac G5 dual-core systems. Basic 64-bit development and runtime support has been added to this version.
