Sonnet Technologies announced a new line of Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) Serial ATA host adapters. The Tempo SATA E4P with four external ports and the Tempo SATA E4i with four internal ports are compatible with the newest PCI Express Power Mac G5s.
Sonnet is also introducing the Fusion 500P, a new five-bay disk drive enclosure with a built-in port multiplier. A Tempo SATA E4P can support up to four Fusion 500P disk enclosures.
The new internal Tempo SATA E4i provides a portal for adding additional high-performance SATA storage inside a Power Mac G5 with PCIe slots. Sonnet has also updated its G5 Jive internal drive mounting system to be compatible with both PCI-X and PCIe Power Mac G5s.
Sonnet states that both the Tempo SATA E4P and Tempo SATA E4i cards feature a performance bandwidth of 3Gb per second per port. The Tempo SATA E4P retails for $300 and the Tempo SATA E4i retails for $200. Both support Mac OS X and Windows XP and will be available in early February.
Sonnet is also launching a Fusion 500P 5-bay SATA Enclosure, featuring a built-in port multiplier, single eSATA cable to host, hot-swap drive bays, drive activity LEDs, universal power supply and hot-swappable, whisper quiet fan. The company also announced that its updated G5 Jive is now compatible with PCI-X and PCI Express Power Mac G5, and Tempo SATA E4i and eSATA 4+4 host adapters.
