REAL Software shipped REALbasic 2006 Release 1. The update includes several new features.
A new Lingua utility to enable developers to provide translations for their REALbasic application in multiple languages without recompiling. IDE scripting allows REALbasic developers to automate repetitive tasks and compile REALbasic applications via the command line interface. Drag events allow REALbasic applications to expose more events while the mouse is being dragged to create more interactive user interfaces. Nine new datatypes, including signed and unsigned integers up to 64 bits, provides greater compatibility with Visual Basic and allow integers greater than 2 billion to be stored. REALbasic developers can now use structures to create user-defined types (also known as UDTs).
It has also added better Novell Linux Desktop support, and various stability and reliability enhancements.
REALbasic 2006 Standard Edition starts at $100 while REALbasic 2006 Professional Edition is offered at an introductory price of $399 for a limited time; list price is $500. REALbasic 2006 Release 1 is a free upgrade for REALbasic 2005 users.
