Miglia Technology released a new public beta of the software for its EvolutionTV digital video recorder (DVR) for the Mac. The beta allows users to capture real-time video from TV, DVD, VHS, HI8, and other video sources for the iPod with video and Sony PSP. It anticipates a final release within four to six weeks.
Evolution TV uses built-in real-time hardware compression and does away with the export steps in transferring captured video. It features iPod, PSP, MPEG-2 (DVD) MPEG-4 and DivX hardware compression. It has a suggested retail price of $249, system requirements include Mac OS X 10.4 or higher, USB 2, Power PC G4 1 Ghz, and 256 MB RAM.
