Mac developers looking to create universal binary versions of their applications have another tool at their disposal. The latest version of VISE X from MindVision Software lets developers build universal installers that run natively on both PowerPC and Intel-based Macs.
In addition to adding Universal support, VISE X 3.0 includes new search and install locations based on the location of the installer bundle and new AppleScript commands for automating the process of building installers and updaters.
Customers with current annual licenses for the OS X installer application can get this upgrade for free. Others can find licensing information through the MindVision Web site.
Apple unveiled the first of its Intel-based Macs—the iMac and MacBook Pro —at Macworld Expo. The company plans to have Intel-built processor in all of its hardware by the end of 2006.
