Support for podcasting and the Atom syndication specification are slated to appear in the next version of MacJournal. Mariner Software says that version 4 of the journaling and blogging application has reached the late stages of development, with a final version expected some time in March.
MacJournal 4.0’s podcasting capabilities include audio recording built directly into the application. Users can record themselves using a recording bar that appears in a journal entry. The forthcoming update also promises advanced blogging features by adding support for Atom, an XML-based format for the syndication of Web content.
Other features slated for MacJournal 4.0 include a new inspector for setting attributes, per-journal customization, and advanced search capabilities, as well as bug fixes. Mariner plans to make a beta of MacJournal 4.0 available later this month.
MacJournal 4.0 is priced at $39.95—an increase of $10 over the boxed version of MacJournal 3. Users of that MacJournal 3.x can upgrade for $14.95.
Mariner began offering MacJournal as a commercial product a little more than a year ago after licensing the journaling application from creator Dan Schimpf.
