SIPphone on Wednesday announced that its Gizmo Project software supports full instant messaging compatibility with Google Talk, Google’s own instant messaging product. What’s more, Gizmo Project works on the Mac — enabling Mac users to chat with Google Talk users as well.
Gizmo Project is Voice over IP (VoIP) software for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux. The software lets you make and take voice calls and instant messages for free with other Gizmo Project users; you can also make or take calls to regular land lines and cell phones for an additional fee.
Google’s Google Talk client software is for Windows only, but Mac users can also access the service by using Jabber and XMPP-compliant instant messaging clients, including the iChat client included with Apple’s Tiger operating system and the third-party IM software Adium. Gizmo Project provides another way for Mac users to talk with Google Talk users.
