OTEE has released a free update to its game development engine Unity, to version 1.2.1. The developer describes the update as “primarily a compatibility and stability release.”
Unity is available for Mac developers who want to create their own 3D game titles. It can produce games that run on either Mac or Windows, as well as games that can run as Dashboard widgets in Tiger. Unity has been used to create the 3D action game Gooball, published for the Mac by Ambrosia Software.
The new 1.2.1 release adds support for mice controlled by the shareware application USB Overdrive, improves Windows game stability, adds support for older graphics cards and “fixes a few rare bugs.”
The last significant update, 1.2, added a new framework for the shading engine to produce realtime full-screen graphics effects, new character-related features, built-in workflow tools and more.
