TechRestore is the latest company to jump on the 160GB bandwagon. Now you can send your PowerBook or iBook in to them to be upgraded with a 160GB hard disk drive for $489.
Earlier this week Seagate announced it was shipping a 160GB 2.5-inch hard disk drive — the largest drive in its class, designed to work in laptops and other portable systems. The drive uses perpendicular writing technology to cram more data onto a smaller surface. Immediately several vendors announced the availability of parts and systems that used the new drive.
TechRestore’s service includes overnight pickup and delivery of the PowerBook, installation of the new drive and data transfer within 24 hours of receipt. If you’d like to keep your old drive useable, you can have it installed in a portable case for an additional $19.99.
