FileMaker announced on Tuesday that FileMaker Mobile 8, its application designed for Palm OS and Pocket PC handhelds, is now shipping. Among the changes in the new version is the ability to synchronize handhelds with databases on FileMaker Server 8 and FileMaker Server 8 Advanced. FileMaker Mobile also includes six new starter templates including Contact Management; Asset Management; Research Notes; Student Records; Movie Library; and Recipe Tracking. FileMaker Mobile 8 costs $69. Licensed users of FileMaker Mobile 7 or FileMaker Mobile 2.1 may download FileMaker Mobile 8 for $19.
