Sonnet Technologies has announced its Encore/ST G4 Duet 1.8GHz CPU upgrade, compatible with most Power Mac G4 systems. The $599.95 processor upgrade provides two G4 processors, and is compatible with Mac OS 9.2 or Mac OS X 10.3.5 or later.
The system features two PowerPC 7447A processors and has 512K of SRAM on-chip Level 2 cache. It auto-configures when installed, so there’s no need to change jumper settings, according to Sonnet.
The 1.8GHz system replaces a 1.7GHz Duet system that was previously available for the same price. It’s compatible with most “Sawtooth”-era Power Mac G4s, including AGP Graphics, Gigabit Ethernet, Digital Audio and QuickSilver models.
