Cell telephony software maker nova media on Tuesday introduced free iSync plug-ins for newer cell phone models from Motorola, Nokia, Siemens and Sony Ericsson. The iSync plug-ins are available for download from nova media’s Web site.
iSync allows Macs to exchange contact info, calendar data and other information with smartphones and PDAs, but support is limited to Apple’s list of supported devices. Nova media’s plug-ins enable other devices not on that list to work with iSync as well.
“In some cases it was only necessary to identify phones for iSync, in other cases new field definition tables had to be created to allow iSync to communicate in the best possible way with new phones,” explained nova media spokesman Jan Füllemann.
The nova media plug-ins don’t touch iSync — they’re placed in the appropriate folder inside the Mac OS X system.
Supported phones include Motorola’s V3C, V3i and V3x models, Nokia’s N70, N71 and N80, Siemens’ M75, S75 and SL75, Sony Ericsson’s W550i and W900i, and many others — please visit nova media’s Web site for more details.
Nova media’s products include Mobile High Speed 3G, which enables Mac users to configure third-generation cell phones to communicate on high speed data networks using UMTS, EDGE, GPRS and HSCSD.
