Infrant Technologies on Wednesday announced the release of the ReadyNAS NV, a new network attached storage (NAS) server that’s Mac, PC and Linux compatible. The ReadyNAS NV touts up to 2 terabytes (TB) of online storage using four hot-swappable Serial ATA (SATA) disk trays, and is priced starting at $649 for a bare version without drives.
The ReadyNAS NV features a built-in Gigabit Ethernet connection, cable lock and carrying handle in a design that measures 8 x 5 9 inches. It’s UPnP AV compliant, so it can serve up content like music and video directly to UPnP-compliant digital media devices without using a computer first.
The ReadyNAS NV features Infrant’s X-RAID technology, which automates RAID tasks and enables users to expand storage as needed — the NV can start out with a single drive mechanism, and second, third and fourth drives can be added as you need more space or better redundancy. The NV supports RAID Level 0, 1 and 5 configurations.
Besides the $649 base version, Infrant also sells 1TB, 1.6TB and 2TB versions for $1,119, $1,699 and $2,299 respectively.
